Ellen Vora, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and the author of The Anatomy of Anxiety and Season of the Witch: A Psychiatrist’s Case for Magic. Trained at Yale and Columbia, she has built her work around challenging conventional assumptions about mental health. Her whole-person approach recognizes that mental health is inseparable from physical health, and that symptoms such as anxiety can sometimes reflect underlying physiological imbalance rather than something purely psychological. In Season of the Witch, Vora expands that inquiry into culture, exploring what women lose when we privilege rationality and dismiss intuition. She speaks internationally on mental health, women’s health, and the intersection of medicine and meaning, combining scientific rigor with an openness to mystery.
